Norton Disk Doctor (NDD) tests your hard disk for errors, checks file system integrity, and attempts to recover data from damaged sectors.
Partition Table ─ Verifies the disk partition table is intact and readable.
Boot Record ─ Checks the master boot record and partition boot records for corruption.
File Allocation Tables ─ Validates both copies of the FAT for cross-links and errors.
Directory Structure ─ Examines all directory entries for corruption or invalid cluster pointers.
Lost Clusters ─ Finds and recovers clusters marked used but not referenced by any file.
Surface Test (3 Passes) ─ Pass 1 reads every sector; Pass 2 performs non-destructive magnetic surface analysis; Pass 3 verifies integrity. Each block on the map represents multiple sectors.
Blue = Untested Black = Empty (no data)
Cyan = Contains data Green = Sectors OK
Red = Bad sectors / unrecoverable Yellow = Sectors recovered
